Livestock Sale

The culmination of the Junior Fair Livestock Project is the Livestock Sale. The sale is an opportunity for youth exhibitors to be financially rewarded for their hard work all summer. Local businesses are invited and encouraged to support 4-H & FFA members projects by bidding at the sale. The sale processes is defined below. If at any point you have questions about the sale or sale process, please contact us.

Bidding

We will continue with a premium sale. Bidders will only be billed for the premium you bid, unless you are interested in custom slaughter. Champions will be the only animals coming through the ring, and will sell in the same order of species. All other exhibitors will proceed through the sale ring in reverse-alphabetical order (beginning with “Z”) within species. A preliminary list of exhibitors is available on our website. Exhibitors, and parents, are prohibited from soliciting bids from bidders during the sale.

*All Dairy Feeders will have gone through the rebuy auction on Friday. No Dairy Feeders may be purchased or sold to other individuals during the sale on Saturday.
**On behalf of Dairy exhibitors, a milk pitcher representing a gallon of milk, is offered for auction. Donations of a minimum of $50.00, accumulate toward the final sale price, which is divided equally among the exhibitors present during the sale. All bidders will be recognized, and the milk pitcher will be awarded to one bidder selected at random.

Buying

All buyers will be invoiced for their purchases. No payment is accepted the day-of-sale. Cash or check payments are accepted by mail. Card payments are accepted online.

Splits

Any sale with four (4) or less bidders will be split equally between the confirmed bidders. A sale with five (5) or more bidders will require a long split sheet. These forms must be completed and signed by the bidders for their pledged amount. This process should be orchestrated by a bidder, not an exhibitor, parent, or grandparent. NEW: The lists should be returned to the designated person at the auction stand at least two (2) exhibitors ahead of the exhibitor you are bidding on. If a list is present, the auctioneers will not solicit bids, but will announce the total amount on the list and ask for a higher bid, before deeming the sale complete and reading the buyers’ names.

Add Ons

Add-ons are donations to an exhibitor, commonly used if a bidder didn’t have the winning bid yet still wants to support the exhibitor. Add-ons can be transacted online or in the Sale Office before Sunday at 4pm.
