Meet this year’s royalty candidates

One of the highlights of the Hardin County Fair is the crowning of the Junior Fair King & Queen. Another great group of youth will compete for the title during the crowning ceremony on Tuesday, September 7 in the grandstand.

Ada

Selena Jordan

Selena Jordan is the daughter of Dustin and Jessica Jordan and is representing Ada High School. At the fair, she exhibits market and breeding rabbits. She has served as the president of the Liberty Belles and Boys 4-H Club where she has also led the community service committee and has been the chaplain of the Ada FFA Chapter. In her school, she has been a member of the varsity volleyball and basketball teams, is involved in language club, serves on student council, is in Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

After graduation, Selena plans to attend college to earn her Bachelors degree in Nursing to become a certified nurse midwife.

Riley Furgeson

Riley Ferguson is the son of Adam and Kristen Ferguson and is representing Ada High School. Ferguson got his start in 4-H as a Cloverbud, and is now a member of the Ada Barnyard Farmers 4-H Club where he serves as President. He has exhibited sheep and goats, where he has won showmanship and Reserve Champion Doe honors. He has attended 4-H camp, and is on the Junior Fair Board.

In his school, he runs cross country, track, swims, is in the Varsity Singers show choir, is in language and film club, National Honor Society, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

In his community, Ferguson volunteers for the Ada Public Library summer reading program, Ada food pantry, Ada ReStore, and is an Altar Server at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

After graduation, Ferguson plans to further his education to become an engineer.

Hardin Northern

Brenna Flowers

Brenna Flowers is the daughter of Eric & Doreen Flowers and represents Hardin Northern High School. At the fair, she has exhibited hogs, artwork, and non-livestock projects like gardening, photography, scrapbooking, and cake decorating.

She is a member of the Blanchard Pleasant Buckeyes 4-H Club, where she currently serves as President. She is also a member of the Hardin Northern FFA Chapter where she has participated in several FFA Activities and currently serves as President. She is the current Hardin County Pork Industry Queen. Flowers also serves on the Junior Fair Board.

In her school, she is involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Awakened Commotion, plays volleyball, softball, and is a cheerleader.

in her community, Flowers serves as a youth volleyball official, volleyball and cheer camp counselor, Dunkirk Vacation Bible School counselor, and is engaged in New Hope Church.

After high school, Flowers plans to attend an undecided university to major in Pre-Veterinary Science.

Aidan Gatchell

Aidan Gatchell is the son of John Gatchell and Christina Howe and represents Hardin Northern High School. At the fair, he has shown hogs, dairy beef feeders, and chickens. He is a member of the Blanchard Pleasant Buckeyes 4-H club where he serves as vice president. He is also a member of the Hardin Northern FFA Chapter.

In his school, he is engaged in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, cross country and track. In his community, he is engaged in his church’s youth group.

After high school, Gatchell plans to earn a degree in education to become an elementary school teacher, as well as become a preacher.

Kenton

Chloe Anderson

Chloe Anderson is the daughter of Ryan and Ann Anderson and represents Kenton High School. She is a member of the Boots & Buckles 4-H club where she serves as President. She is also President of the Kenton-OHP FFA Chapter. She is a member of the Junior Fair Board where she serves on several committees. She doubles as the Hardin County Fair communications intern.

In her school, Anderson is a member of the band, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, is a KHS ambassador, PAWS mental health group, Hardin County Key Club, and is on student council.

In her community, she assists in setup of the Lake of Lights, volunteers for the youth football program, Safe Haven of Hardin County, Arbor Day, veterans programs and vacation bible school.

After graduation, Anderson plans to attend The Ohio State University to major in Agricultural Communication.

Noah Ketcham

Noah Ketcham is the son of Katie & Matthew Ketcham and represents Kenton High School. He is a member of the Jumbo Jr. Farmers 4-H club where he serves as club treasurer. At the fair he exhibits hogs and has won several honors. He also exhibits non-livestock projects like electricity, archery, woodworking, and fishing.

In his school, Ketcham is involved in Top Twenty, KHS Marching and concert bands, Musical, OSU High School Honor Band, Member of Capital High School Honor Band, Quiz Bowl, Golf Team, Swim, Tennis, Student Government, is an Ambassador, is a member of National Honor Society, and KHS Gatekeepers.

In his community, he is a member of Immaculate Conception Church where he is in the Choir, Cantor, and is an Alter Server. He is a member of the youth group at the church. He is also been involved in several Hardin County Players Youth productions.

After graduation, Ketcham plans to  attend The Ohio State University to obtain a bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering in order to work in the oil refining industry.

Ridgemont

Mykenzie Lance

Mykenzie Lance is the daughter of Amber and Charles Wallace, and represents Ridgemont High School. She is a member of the Mt. Victory Champs 4-H Club where she serves as president. She is also serving as the president of the Ridgemont FFA Chapter. Lance exhibits swine projects at the fair, winning numerous awards. She is also a member of the Junior Fair Board.

In her school, she is involved in volleyball, cheerleading, is in the musical, Company R Show Choir, band, and National Honor Society.

Lance plans to attend an undecided university to obtain a degree in animal science to eventually become a large animal veterinarian.

Upper Scioto Valley

Jake Bushong

Jake Bushong is the son of Kenneth and Sharon Bushong and represents Upper Scioto Valley High School. He is a member of the Jumbo Jr. Farmers 4-H Club and is also a member of the Upper Scioto Valley FFA Chapter where he serves as president. He exhibits beef projects at the fair and is a member of the junior fair board.

In his school, Bushong plays football, runs track, and is a member of the Business Professionals of America.

In his community, he is a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church. After graduation Bushong plans to attend an undecided university to become a veterinarian.

At-Large

Johannah Thacker

Johannah Thacker is the daughter of Shaun and Kristie Thacker, and attends Riverdale High School. She is a member of the Hardin Hi Lighters 4-H Club, where she serves as president.

In school, Thacker is a member of student council, quiz bowl, National Honor Society, band, is a student member, golfs, is on the stage crew for musical, and is in choir.

In her community, she is a Blue Star Mothers volunteer, American Legion volunteer, Greenwood Grange volunteer, Forest Festival volunteer, and is in her church’s youth group.

After graduation, Johannah plans to attend an undecided university to study engineering.

Wyatt Brown

Wyatt Brown is the son of Michael and Amyial Brown. He is a member of the Pawsitive Attitudes 4-H Club where he serves as president. He has exhibited poultry, lamb, goat and dog projects at the fair of which he has won numerous awards. In his community, he is a vacation bible school leader and is a church volunteer. Brown plans to enter the automotive industry after graduation.
