Past Director, Board President Passes Away

It is with a heavy heart that the Hardin County Fair Board learns of the passing of Robert “Bob” Fish this past week. Bob served in many capacities, including as board president. We are sharing Bob’s obituary below.

Robert B. Fish died on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at his home. He was born on December 31, 1957 at Hardin Memorial Hospital to Clarence and Twila (McKinley) Fish. He graduated from Ridgemont High School in 1976 where he was active in Livestock Judging. He was named the winner of the Dekalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award. Bob was a 1979 graduate of Northwestern Auto/Diesel College. He worked for Kenton Implement, Ag-Chem and was currently employed with the Ohio Cat Agricultural Division. On December 6, 1980 he married Christine J. Oates at the Epworth United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Chris, and his father in-law James Oates. He is survived by his daughter, Rachel R. (Fish) Lindvig and her husband Jake, his siblings Ken, Dan, Hope, Jack, Betty, Karen, Steve, Judy, Jeff, Sharon, and Laura. He is also survived by his mother in-law Sonja Oates and partner Denise Althauser. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Bob enjoyed collecting John Deere and Minneapolis Moline toy tractors as well as restoring Minneapolis Moline Farm Tractors. He also collected pedal tractors. He enjoyed driving his Minneapolis Moline tractor in parades. Bob was a former member of the Hardin County Fair Board for Buck Township and was a former co-advisor for the Hardin County Junior Fair Board. He was a member of the Kenton Elks Lodge and the Restorer and Collectors Tractor Club. Bob organized the Kiddie Tractor Pull at the Hardin County Fair for over 35 years and shared in the lives of many kids. Bob especially loved flying with Rachel whenever he had the chance. Bob will be missed by his family, friends, and his co-workers. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 2:00 pm-6:00 pm at the Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home at 200 E. Columbus Street in Kenton, OH. Services will be held on Monday, June 7 @ 10:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Jody Oates and Rev. Jim Oates presiding. Burial will be at the Wolf Creek Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Hardin County Junior Fair Board. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
