Fair planning continues amid coronavirus concerns

The Hardin County Agricultural Society board of directors has elected to continue planning the 2020 Hardin County Fair. The board is keeping health and safety front-of-mind.

“The Hardin County Fair is Hardin County’s premier county event and is a staple in our community. Our first priority is the health and safety of our exhibitors, guests and exhibits,” said president Corey Ledley. “We are operating ‘business as usual’ for now to continue to serve our youth and community. Additionally, we believe continuing the planning of the Hardin County Fair provides a sense of hope for our community as we face these uncertain times.”

All deadlines, including livestock ownership and weigh-ins, remain intact. These decisions will be re-evaluated as the deadlines approach.

“We love the fair just as much as everyone else. But, at this time, we just can’t commit with absolute certainty that we’re going to have a fair,” said Ledley.

Exhibitors and families are encouraged to take into consideration that the board may be left with no choice but to cancel the fair, and make decisions that best suit their families.

Exhibitors and families are encouraged to sign up for email updates at www.hardincountyfair.org/cornoravirus. Updates will also be released to local media and posted on fair social media.
